Finally! Strawberry season has just begun! We start things off with training sessions for our Fresh Picked Crew as the fields aren’t quite full enough of ripe fruit to open for Pick Your Own. AND SO! We will have a limited supply here of Fresh Picked Strawberries this afternoon (Friday, July 7th) starting at 12pm. Fresh Picked Strawberries are $19 for a 3L basket and $10 for a 1.5L basket.
Unfortunately, we aren’t able to take orders for Fresh Picked Strawberries QUITE yet, but anticipate starting to take orders early next week. We take orders only one day in advance just to make sure that weather and ripening will allow us to pick your order for you.
We’ll be open here until 4pm and have our Farm Store stocked with lots of other local food products including Slate River Dairy milk, Thunder Oak Cheese, local beef, pork and lamb and some fresh veggies from our greenhouse and other Ontario farms.
There is a chance we may be open again tomorrow afternoon from 12pm to 4pm with Fresh Picked Strawberries and we are still trying to decide which day we’ll be able to start Pick Your Own – it will either be Sunday (July 9th) from 12 to 4pm or Monday (July 10th) from 9am to 12pm. And at this point, we do not know if we’ll be able to bring Strawberries to the Country Market. **All the this information we will have updated here by late Friday night or early Saturday morning. Thanks SO much for your patience as we work alongside Mother Nature!
For those of you looking for information on the Little Red Barn: We are certainly hoping there will be enough yield this year to be at the Little Red Barn with berries and vegetables. At this point, it doesn’t look like we’ll be starting at the Little Red Barn until July 18th or 19th. But do keep in touch, because if things change we will definitely post the information here on our Farm Updates page and have it on our info line as well: 475 5181
Thanks for reading! And yippee for strawberries! Have a berry great day today.
