Our Pick Your Own fields will be open from 9am to 12pm with the Farm Store remaining open until 4pm. We will have good strawberry picking, good Saskatoon picking and good picking in the peas – both shelling and sugar snap. We have about 7 to 10 days or so left to the strawberry season. This means that we have lots of good picking left – lots of flavourful, juicy berries still to pick, but the size of the fruit will now start to become just a bit smaller than the earlier days of the season. In the Farm Store on Friday, we’ll have a limited supply of Fresh Picked Strawberries coming off the fields by 11am and we will have ass’t garden veggies including beets, carrots, garlic scapes, salad greens and peas.
Looking ahead to Saturday, there is a chance we may have to close the strawberry fields for ripening so just keep in touch with this message by Friday afternoon for confirmation of a Saturday morning pick. Give our Farm Hotline: 475 5181 a quick call JUST before you head out to the farm as the size of crowds, weather and ripening can change the availability of both our Pick Your Own and Fresh Picked produce and I change this message quite frequently to let you know what’s going on.
At the farm we accept debit, credit card, personal cheque and cash, of course. We sure do appreciate when you are able to use cash or personal cheque – in fact – we have a separate line up for that to get you through a bit quicker.
Due to food safety concerns, pets are not allowed into the pick your own fields or any of the buildings on site and we do appreciate your understanding.
We will not be able to come into the Little Red Barn on Friday – we are just not getting enough berries of the fields to be able to come in. We are trying our best to bring strawberries to the Thunder Bay Country Market on Saturday morning (located at the outside back of the Dove Building on the CLE Grounds) – check in with this message on Friday evening for confirmation.
