Friday, August 28th UPDATE

Good news! Sweet corn picking when MUCH better than expected this morning and we will have enough sweet corn to head into our Little Red Barn (located in the parking lot of Home Hardware on Memorial Avenue).  Karli will be arriving there by 12pm with fresh picked sweet corn, carrots, beets, new potatoes and beans.

Back here at the farm, we are open until 4pm today.  Our cucumber patch is closed for ripening today – we had a big crowd out here last night picking.  In fact, we are planning our next pick your own cucumber time to be Sunday afternoon from 12pm to 4pm.  The cooler weather has been slowing down the ripening of our crops so with the heat coming this week we are expecting a much better supply of both cucumbers and sweet corn.  We do have light picking in the yellow and green beans, light picking in the peas and very light end of the season picking in the raspberries available today.

In the Farm Store will have a good supply of our scrumptious sweet corn shortly after 12 noon!  And we’ll also have  a great selection of garden veggies including fresh picked carrots, beets, dill, garlic, new potatoes, beans, cabbage and a limited supply of shelling peas. Fresh Picked cucumbers aren’t available currently.

We always recommend that you give our Farm Hotline: 475 5181 a quick call JUST before you head out to the farm as the size of crowds, weather and ripening can change the availability of our produce and we do update this message as soon as we can.

The amazing maze is now open to explore during farm hours.  This year’s design is in celebration of 4-H Canada’ s 100 year anniversary.  $1 from each $5 admission is donated to the United Way of Thunder Bay (HST included).  Just check in with our staff in the Farm Store to pay your admission and let us know you’ll be heading into the maze.
