Unfortunately, we are still not getting quite enough sweet corn ripening in order for us to have enough to be at the Little Red Barn in town on Thursday. We’re going to try again for Friday so you can check in with this message Thursday night for confirmation.
Now that we’re in the month of September, our Farm Hours are reduced. From now until Sunday, September 18th, we’ll be open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9am to 4pm and on Sundays from 12pm to 4pm. We will be closed from Monday to Wednesday.
HOWEVER – we will be closed here on Saturday, September 10th for the Valley Harvest Art Fest – a fabulous new food and art festival here at the farm. Learn more about the Fest at www.valleyharvestartfest.com. You can get your tickets here, at Fireweed on Algoma or on the website.
Our pick your own fields will be open here Thursday morning. We’ll have picking available in the cucumber patch – all sizes – just takes longer now to find those dill size cucs and definitely not as many out there. Lots of slicer size for relish. There’s some pretty good picking available in the yellow and green beans. The pea patch is now finished for the season.
In the Farm Store, we will have our scrumptious sweet corn as well as a great selection of garden veggies including fresh picked carrots, beets, garlic, dill weed, new potatoes, cauliflower, local apples, wild blueberries, wild chanterelle mushrooms and just a nice selection of garden veggies. Fresh Picked cucumbers are no longer available.
The Amazing Maze is now open to explore during farm hours. $1 from each $5 admission is donated to the United Way of Thunder Bay (HST included). The Maze takes about 20 minutes to complete. Just check in with our staff in the Farm Store to pay your admission and let us know you’ll be heading into the maze.
