Farm Update for Friday, July 29th, 2016

We will NOT be at the Little Red Barn on Friday as we are in a bit of an “in between” stage with crops and we just won’t have enough harvested to be at the Little Red Barn – our apologies – we will be aiming to be back at the Little Red Barn on Thursday and Friday next week from 11:30 to 3:30 each day.  Just keep in touch with our Farm Updates for confirmation.

Well, we had a big crowd out Thursday evening, so our Pick Your Own fields will have to be closed for ripening on Friday.  We’ll have Pick Your Own available again Saturday morning from 9am to 1pm.  Sadly, strawberry season has now come to an end, BUT, happily, for Pick Your Own crops, we do still have about 4 or 5 days left to the Saskatoon season, 2 -1/2 weeks left to the raspberry season, peas should be available to pick for at least 3 weeks and yellow and green beans will be ready in the next few days.  But once again, our Pick Your Own fields will be closed for ripening on Friday, and open again Saturday morning from 9am to 1pm.

The Farm Store will be open on Friday from 9am to 4pm.  Fresh Picked raspberries will not be available this year, we’ll have fresh picked peas (both shelling and sugar snap), new potatoes, garlic scapes, baby beets, baby carrots and an ass’t of garden veggies in the Farm Store.

Our sweet corn and pickling cucumber season should start sometime around the middle of August.

Due to food safety concerns, unfortunately pets aren’t allowed into the pick your own fields or any of the buildings on site and we do appreciate your understanding on that matter.

At the farm we accept debit, credit card, personal cheque and cash, of course.  But as a small business, we sure do appreciate when you are able to use cash or personal cheque to help us avoid those pesky credit card and debit fees.
