We will be open on Saturday from 9am to 4pm. It’s a wonderful weekend to come on out to the farm. From 9am to 12pm you can pick your own cucumbers, both dill and bread n’ butter size. We will also have light picking available in the beans, and end of the season light picking in the peas.
In the Farm Store, we will have a fantastic supply of our scrumptious sweet corn as well as a great selection of garden veggies including fresh picked carrots, beets, garlic, new potatoes, beans, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, swiss chard, wild blueberries, wild chanterelle and wild porcini mushrooms. We will also have a good supply of Fresh Picked dill size and bread n’ butter size cucumbers. But what we do NOT have is any more dill weed – our patch is now finished for the season. Never fear, you can still pickle. Simply replace the dill weed in your jars with 1 Tablespoon of dill seed (which you can find in bulk food stores or the spice aisle of the grocery store). It really does work – I’ve done it before myself – you are just looking to infuse your brine and cukes with dill flavour and the dill seed does the trick.
The amazing maze is now open to explore during farm hours. This year’s design is in celebration of 4-H Canada’ s 100 year anniversary. $1 from each $5 admission is donated to the United Way of Thunder Bay (HST included). Just check in with our staff in the Farm Store to pay your admission and let us know you’ll be heading into the maze.
We always recommend that you give this line a quick call JUST before you head out to the farm as the size of crowds, weather and ripening can change the availability of our produce and we do update this message as soon as we can.
